Self-Supported by Design​

 

We believe everyone deserves the chance to live and complete an extraordinary experience like the WANDERBIRD Adventure.

​

All participants start at the same location: Westendorf, Tirol.

From there, a straight westward line follows the highest mountains of the Alps towards the Matterhorn.

​This line marks the shortest connection between start, turnaround, and finish for all participants. The line serves as a reference. It defines the theoretical challenge.

The real path is yours to draw.

​

As we connect the dots, we follow not only the geographical backbone of the Alps, but also a natural weather divide - with north and south Alps often living in different conditions. Every decision you make, reveals its consequence over time. 

 

Three distances offer different levels of commitment, skill and endurance:

  • Fun (~300 km)

  • Tour (~500 km)

  • Hero (~800 km)​

The WANDERBIRD Adventure is fully self-supported.

Progress may only be made by:

  • your feet, carrying your glider,

  • or your glider, carrying you.

​​

No ground crews.

No organized support.

No individual media teams following the participants.​

Publicly available and equally accessible resources are permitted.

​

This is not about restriction, but about honoring the purest spirit of the WANDERBIRD Adventure: being able to take all circumstances into account and handling them

responsibly and self-sufficient is the highest level of skill.​

    • There is no specific route to follow, just one Turnpoint to reach.

  • The Preparation: 

    • Besides physical preparation, finding your true 'Why' is crucial. We will help you on the way.

  • The Community: 

    • Connect with an international group of like-minded "WANDERBIRDs"

    • Hike & Fly together, learn from each other & support one another.

    of the adventure
